If you’ve started your own trucking company and have more than one driver, you may be required to certify that you’ve provided a drug and alcohol abuse training to your supervisors. Motor Carrier HQ offers a training course that’s completely online and fulfills the requirements set by the FMCSA.
What Do I Need to Do to Meet the Requirements?
Trucking companies with two or more drivers are required to have a supervisor that has taken a course on recognizing indicators that create a reasonable suspicion that a driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It should also outline the process on how to refer that employee for testing. The FMCSA requires that the training includes:
- 60 minutes of training on the symptoms of alcohol abuse
- 60 minutes of training on the symptoms of controlled substances use
